Heritage Skills Festival

Heritage Skills Festival

Friday 23rd June 2017

One of the Cathedral's skilled craftsmen will be flying the flag for Devon at a major heritage skills event this weekend.

Owen Whitfield, from our team of stonemasons, will soon be graduating from a two-year foundation degree in applied historic building conservation and repair.

He is representing Exeter Cathedral at Lincoln Cathedral's Heritage Skills Festival today and tomorrow.

The event sees the City of London Livery Companies and Lincoln Cathedral joining together to celebrate traditional crafts and skills essential to the preservation of Cathedrals and other ancient buildings, as well as keeping heritage and skills alive.

Pictured is a recent example of Owen's work - an eagle owl 'corbel' stone for the East end of Exeter Cathedral.
