2016 Organ Recitals Announced
14th June 2016
The details of this year's organ recital series at Exeter Cathedral have now been revealed.
Performances on the organ, which was restored between 2013 and 2014 at a cost of around £1 million, are a popular feature in the Cathedral's summer event calendar. The instrument, which contains over 5,000 pipes, is heard throughout the year as part of the daily round of worship at the Cathedral, but rarely as a solo instrument at recitals.
The season opens on Wednesday 29th June with a visit from Geoffrey Morgan (Christchurch Priory, Dorset). His eclectic programme includes music by Bach, Reger, Bairstow and variations on the 1930s Gershwin jazz standard "I got rhythm".
There are also appearances by Jeff Howard (10th August), Cathedral Director of Music Timothy Noon (20th July) and Assistant Director of Music David Davies (31st August).
Tickets for each recital are just £8 for adults, with discounted admission for students (£5) and free entry for under 18s. For more information please call 01392 285983
