Bishop’s Visitation Charge

Bishop’s Visitation Charge

21st September 2016

During the course of 2015, the Bishop of Exeter, Rt Revd Robert Atwell, commissioned a Visitation of Exeter Cathedral to enable him to establish an overview of its worship and mission.

The Visitation was carried out by a panel of independent people - known as Visitors - on behalf of the Bishop. He is very grateful for the time they spent speaking to members of the Cathedral community.

After speaking with the Visitors, Bishop Robert has produced a Charge, which includes a series of directions for the Dean and Chapter. The Charge can be downloaded below.

Bishop Robert and Dean Jonathan have issued a joint statement today:

“The directions in the Charge lay down a clear path for the Cathedral to follow over the coming months and they have been welcomed by the Dean and Chapter. We are committed to continuing to work together to ensure the Cathedral remains at the heart of the spiritual and cultural life of the city and the wider county.”
