Holy Ground: February 2015
6th February 2015
On Sunday 7th February 2015 we are delighted to welcome Jill Rowe as our café guest at Holy Ground.
Jill is a qualified Youth & Community Worker and Secondary School teacher having been Head of Religious Studies at an inner-city school in Derby. She joined Oasis in 1997 and is now National Director of Ethos & Formation working across Oasis in the UK. She is also a speaker, teacher and writer and is passionate about the transformation of people and communities. Jill is part of Oasis Church Waterloo and is hoping to run a 10k this year!
Someone once said, 'You can only build what you can imagine!' So, what can we imagine for our local communities, the people we live amongst, those who are most vulnerable and on the margins, the excluded and the forgotten? What do our beliefs about the life, message and example of Jesus show us about us being participants and not observers in the transformation of our world? Jill will explore this with us and help us understand more about Oasis and the Oasis vision and mission in the process. Oasis was established in 1985 by Steve Chalke. Its vision is for community, a place where everyone is included, making a contribution and reaching their God-given potential. Oasis works in an inclusive, integrated empowering and comprehensive way so that all people experience wholeness and fullness of life achieved through the building of Oasis Hubs. Oasis also works in nine other countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.
As always there will be contemplative time with Tess and Catherine in the Gabriel Chapel as an alternative to the café conversations.
Holy Ground begins at 19.00 with an act of contemplative and creative worship lasting about 45 min. We often make use of multimedia, symbol and celebrate Holy Communion together.
