New Audio Tour for Cathedral

New Audio Tour for Cathedral

19th July 2013

John Nettles has launched the Cathedral's new audio tour, which he recorded.

The audio tour is a new venture for the Cathedral and offers a new insight into its life, with stories from its history told in Mr Nettles' distinctive voice. Woven into the recording are the sounds from the Cathedral, including its choir and peal of bells.

The accomplished Shakespearean actor, best known for TV shows including Bergerac and Midsomer Murders, listened to the finished recording and chatted to visitors.

He said it was "a great pleasure" to work on the audio tour and he hoped it would encourage people to learn more about the history and life of the Cathedral.

The tour was sponsored by Exeter business Original Style.

Dean of the Cathedral, the Very Revd Jonathan Draper, said: "I am thrilled that John Nettles has lent his voice and his time to support the Cathedral in this exciting venture. Having an audio tour will be a very welcome addition to the experience we can offer our visitors. "
