Prayers for London

Prayers for London

Monday 5th June 2017

Prayers will be said in Exeter Cathedral throughout today, including during the service of Choral Evensong, in memory of those killed and injured in the terrible attack on London at the weekend.

Members of the public are encouraged to visit the Cathedral to light a candle and leave messages in a book of condolence, which has been opened in the Nave. The book will remain open all week and will be sent to Southwark Cathedral when finished. The Cathedral is sited very close to London Bridge and Borough Market.

The national minute's silence for the victims of the attack and their loved ones will be observed tomorrow (Tuesday 6 June) at 11.00 outside on Cathedral Green to allow people to remember and hold in their thoughts those killed and injured and their families.

A prayer from the Dean of Southwark:

Loving God, when terror came to our doorstep
and stalked our streets
you were there with us
in the fear and agony.
Remain with us
and with all those caught up
in the horror of these events,
the injured and distressed
those who died
and all who seek your peace
which passes understanding.
