Prayers for Peace
Monday 16th November 2015
A minute's silence was observed in the Cathedral today to remember those who lost their lives in recent terrorist attacks.
The Very Revd Jonathan Draper lead the short act of remembrance with this prayer:
Loving and merciful God, we hold in our hearts and your loving embrace all those caught up in the violence of our world, we remember especially today those in Paris, Lebanon and Sinai. With heartache and longing we bring before you the great needs of our world; the need for peace where there is conflict, the need for justice where there is poverty and oppression, the need for hope and healing where there is despair and sorrow. Give us, and all people, such a taste of your love that we may share it willingly and joyfully with others so that everyone may know the blessings of your peace, and that we may work tirelessly for the well-being of all people; touch and fill our hearts with your love. Amen.
