Eucharist of the Last Supper

The Cathedral Choir leads the Eucharist of the Last Supper which will be followed by The Watch at the Altar of Repose.

What is Maundy Thursday?

Maundy Thursday commemorates Jesus' "Last Supper" with his Apostles. The name comes from the Latin word 'mandatum' which means "commandment."

Near the end of the Last Supper, Jesus said to his disciples:

"A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another."

The service contains a rich complex of themes: humble Christian service expressed through Christ’s washing of his disciples’ feet, the institution of the Eucharist, the perfection of Christ’s loving obedience through the agony of Gethsemane.
