About the performance
Handel's great oratorio Messiah was composed in 1741, setting words (compiled by Charles Jennens) from the scriptures and psalm texts in the Book of Common Prayer. It received its first performance in Dublin in 1742 and has delighted audiences around the world ever since.
The Cathedral Choir teams up with early music specialists Devon Baroque. This performance is generously supported by Anne Foreman in memory of her late husband Peter.
