Lady Day - the Mothers' Union service
Saturday 25th March 2017 at 11.00
This year's Mothers' Union service for "Lady Day" will take place this year at the Cathedral, with Bishop Sarah Mullally (Bishop of Crediton) presiding and preaching. Timothy Parsons (Assistant Director of Music) will be the organist.
Celebrating Lady Day has been a tradition for Mothers' Union internationally, and this year it is wonderful that members will meet together in Exeter to worship in one place rather than in branches or deaneries.
Whilst it is organised by Mothers’ Union Exeter Diocese, the service is a public one and is open to all and all are welcome. An order of service will be given out on the day and there will be a retiring collection in favour of Mothers’ Union “Away From it All” holidays, and Exeter Cathedral.
What is Lady Day?
Lady Day is the traditional name for the Feast of the Annunciation of our Lord to the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on 25th March each year.
It marks the visit by the archangel Gabriel to Mary, telling her that she will be mother of Jesus, the son of God.
