The Calming Minds Project is an extensive six-year programme exploring what makes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) effective in reducing worry and overthinking. As part of this Wellcome Trust Mental Health Award-funded initiative, the project is gathering insights from anyone who experiences overthinking, worry, and rumination and is looking for volunteers for studies to try different treatment approaches.
The project aims to better understand repetitive negative thoughts and find new and better ways to prevent and treat anxiety and depression by targeting this key risk factor. In turn, this will inform the largest-ever international trial of treatments explicitly targeting overthinking, worry, and rumination. The feedback we received throughout the programme will improve key CBT techniques and mental health outcomes and help deliver a calmer mind for thousands of people.
