Robert Sharpe

Thursday 4 July 2024 at 7pm

The image shows a portrait photo of Director of Music at York Minster, Robert Sharpe, wearing a white shirt and black suit jacket. Enjoy the awe-inspiring sound of the Cathedral’s magnificent organ as the evening sun reflects on the unparalleled architecture of the nave during our summer recital series. These concerts will feature some of the country’s leading players, performing a veritable feast of varied organ music.

For our first recital of the series, we will be joined by Director of Music at York Minster, Robert Sharpe. Cathedral Music Magazine described his performance as “dramatic, clear, with appropriate rhapsody, ornamentation and a marvellous sense of timing”. His programmes feature music from all periods, with a particular focus on the 19th and 20th century French school as well as 20th century English repertoire and the works of J S Bach; there is always an emphasis on musical contrast and style for each concert.
