Earlier today, Exeter Cathedral Green was blessed with beautiful sunshine and enthusiastic crowds to welcome Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.
On arrival, The Prince and The Duchess were greeted by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Devon, David Fursdon, and introduced to Deputy Lord-Lieutenant, Mary Quick, High Sheriff of Devon, Lucy Studholme, Chairman of Devon County Council, Cllr Jeff Trail, and Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Trish Oliver.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall then met representatives from Devon Wildlife Trust, Parklife Heavitree, Exeter City Community Trust and the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust.
At the Great West Door they were greeted by The Rt Revd Robert Atwell, Bishop of Exeter, and The Very Revd Jonathan Greener, Dean of Exeter, before taking a tour inside to view a selection of the Cathedral’s rare treasures and meet with donors, supporters, volunteers, staff, clergy and Chapter members.
Inside, The Prince of Wales met members of The Prince of Wales Nursing Cadet Scheme, while the Duchess of Cornwall met with representatives of Exeter’s successful UNESCO City of Literature bid, including author Sir Michael Morpurgo.
The visit was accompanied with music by the Choir of Exeter Cathedral, who later joined the Nursing Cadets to form a Guard of Honour as Their Royal Highnesses departed.
