On Monday students from a local school took part in an environmental information day as part of Scientists in Congregations to learn about the devastating impacts of climate change on communities in the Solomon Islands. The session was arranged in conjunction with Exeter Cathedral and Melanesian Mission UK (MMUK) and was led by MMUK Care for Creation Officer, Maria Schlenker and they were joined by a representative from the Met Office.
Students learnt about the real life effects of climate change on communities in Melanesia and had the exciting opportunity to be trained on how to use weather charting equipment.
Seeing real life examples of the impacts of climate change has enabled the students to become advocates for environmental issues and inspire others to join them in charting climate effects.
