Trafalgar Day Service
Sunday 20 October, 11:45am
All are welcome to join us for this year’s Trafalgar Day Service at Exeter Cathedral, organised annually by the Exeter Flotilla – an Exeter-based association of retired Royal Navy and Royal Marines officers. The service commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar – fought on 21 October 1805 – when the British Fleet, under the command of Admiral Lord Nelson, defeated the combined fleets of France and Spain off Cape Trafalgar.
Historically, Trafalgar marked the beginning of the end of the Napoleonic Wars (Waterloo 1815) and effectively removed the longstanding threat of invasion by France.
2024 is the 50th anniversary of this service in Exeter Cathedral.
