Information for Traders
Types of Stalls
For all stalls you will need to be able to provide your own tables or other forms of displaying your products.
Suitcase Pitches – £20 +VAT
We would like to encourage applications from small businesses and start-ups at the Exeter Independent Market. We therefore offer Suitcase Pitches, which provide an affordable trading opportunity for smaller businesses.
These pitches are 1.5mx1.5m of ground space, which can be used however you please, as long as it meets reasonable safety requirements. Please note that gazebos are not permitted for suitcase pitches.
Table Pitches – £30 +VAT
The slightly larger Table Pitch will give you 2mx2m of ground space. As with the Suitcase Pitches, these spaces can be used however you would like, in order to display your products, within reasonable safety requirements. If you would like to bring a gazebo for your table pitch, this must be smaller than 3m x 3m.
Gazebo Pitches – £40 +VAT
For traders in need of more space, our Gazebo Pitches give you 3mx3m of ground space. Bring your own gazebo and set up your stall under it.
Larger Pitches
There is an option to have a larger pitch, though these will be more limited. Please email us for more information.
What You Can Sell
The Exeter Independent Market is aimed to be a celebration of local indie businesses, it therefore supports the “Shop Small” movement.
Products that would fit well within the market include; vintage clothing and homewares, flowers and plants – including cut flowers, dried flowers, indoor plants, herbs and more – local or artisan food and drink, handmade clothing and accessories, hand-crafted artwork, pottery and much more!
Setting Up at the Market
You will be able to begin setting up from 8am on the day of the market. Vehicles will be able to drive onto the West Front to drop off stalls and items but these will then need to be carried to your pitch and vehicles driven elsewhere for parking for the day. Parking information can be found on the Visit Exeter website via the button below.
We will allocate a pitch space to you before the day and staff will be on site to help direct you on where to go.
The market will trade from 11am until 4pm and you should have your stall set up ready to start trading before the market begins. We politely ask that you remain until 4pm and do not pack up early.
Toilets can be found in the Cloister Garden, which both traders and visitors are able to use.
Payment
You will receive an invoice from us once your place at the Exeter Independent Market is confirmed. You will need to pay by the date given on the invoice, failure to pay on time will be considered a cancellation and your pitch will be offered to someone else.
Bad Weather
In the event of extreme bad weather which poses safety concerns then we may make the decision to cancel the market. Traders will be informed the night before and full refunds will be issued.
Refunds will only be issued if the event is cancelled by Exeter Cathedral.
Please be aware of wind and ensure that your stall is safe and secure. We remind you that gazebos are not permitted on suitcase or table pitches.
