Sacred music has echoed around Exeter Cathedral for centuries. Our choir and organists continue this ancient tradition today. In recent years the musical provision has included the St Peter’s Singers of Exeter Cathedral (a voluntary chamber choir for adults) and other opportunities for young singers (in partnership with the Devon Music Education Hub).
Exeter Cathedral Choir leads daily acts of worship. The Choir seeks to serve and inspire by providing music for the cathedral’s liturgy, educational outreach and concert programmes.
The Choir aspires to continue to build on its professional standard of music-making, growing its reputation regionally, nationally and internationally. This is achieved through daily worship, choir concerts, tours, recordings and broadcasts. Contemporary music is an important part of the choir’s repertoire with new music featuring on a weekly basis.
As part of the strong educational mission, we champion opportunities for children to sing with cathedral choristers. The Choir shares the joy of singing and the sense of wellbeing music brings with our congregations, concert audiences and with visitors from around the world.
