Exeter Cathedral are delighted to receive a bronze Eco Church Award. To qualify for the award churches and cathedrals must complete a unique online ‘Eco Survey’ to demonstrate how they are caring for God’s earth in different areas of their life and work. The answers provided are collected and assessed for an Eco Church Award.
The survey assesses five key areas of church life:
- Worship and teaching
- Management of church buildings
- Management of church land
- Community and global engagement
- Lifestyle
The Bronze Award is just the beginning for Exeter Cathedral who are also working towards Silver and Gold in all areas to gain the full award. The Cathedral has already reached Gold in Worship and Teaching, but in other areas there is much more work to be done. In due course the Cathedral will receive a plaque and logo to celebrate its success.
