People value Exeter Cathedral in all sorts of ways: as Devon’s greatest historic building; as the beating heart of Exeter; as a place of worship and world-class music; as a venue for concerts and activities; as an
inspirational space to reflect; and as a social hub.
If you are able to give to Exeter Cathedral today, we can continue to be here for you. We don’t receive regular funding from the government or from the Church of England, so your donation really will make a difference. It will help ensure our long-term financial stability, enable us to serve the people of Devon – as we have done for a thousand years – and to continue to be here for future generations.

At Exeter Cathedral, we are writing a new chapter: an ambitious project, designed to make sure that we are here for generations to come. But this isn’t just about preserving an architectural masterpiece. We are making Exeter Cathedral even better. For everyone. We are going to be accessible to all – with new lifts, toilets and other essential facilities. With more efficient heating, our carbon footprint will shrink. And we will be introducing innovative new ways to tell our story, to people of all ages and from all backgrounds. There will be a new Cloister Gallery to connect the Cathedral with our other buildings – making us a better place for community gatherings, events and much more. And a new Treasures Gallery, safely displaying our fascinating Library & Archive collections, for everyone to enjoy.
You can support our 2020s Development Appeal Project by adopting a stone in our new Cloister Gallery. Opening this year, our new Cloister Gallery is one of Exeter Cathedral’s most significant building projects in over 500 years. Be part of this historic moment by adopting a stone in the new structure and receive a special 2024 edition Adopt a Stone Certificate.
