Exploring the Archives:
Historic Wills
Tuesday 29 October, 1pm-3pm in the Exeter Cathedral Library & Archives Reading Room
Wills are an exceptionally rich source of information about the lives and social history of people in the past. The Exeter Cathedral Library & Archives contain nearly 100 historic wills, dating from the 13th to 19th centuries – but who made those wills, why are they in the Cathedral Archives, and what can we learn from them?
At this small group session you will gain an overview of the range of wills, and related documents, in Exeter Cathedral’s collections, learn how to identify some key features of historic wills in general, and spend time reading original documents to uncover the stories within.
Tickets: £20
Booking is essential.
